UNIMA, the International Puppetry Association, is hosting a series of webinars in 2024 exploring “What a Puppet Can Do – applied puppetry in theory and practice”. Organised by the UNIMA Education, Development and Therapy Commission, the series will feature online lectures, workshops, exchange of ideas, and examples of good practice.

The second webinar, Puppetry Healing Stories in Hospital Care, will showcase examples of contemporary practices by puppeteers using puppets in hospital settings. It will address the various contexts in which puppets can be used for both adults and children in hospitals, and will also examine some of the principles and ideas underlying these practices.

Cariad Astles, President of the UNIMA research commission, is delivering the webinar. A puppeteer, teacher, and researcher, she specialises in applied puppetry, with a particular focus on puppetry in healthcare settings, including hospitals. The webinar will include a Q&A and sharing experiences with participants.

The webinar will be hosted in English, Spanish and French (the official UNIMA languages) on 29 April. Please ensure you register and join at the scheduled time to listen in your preferred language.
