GBHI Creative Brainwaves Talks: Dublin series returns this October

Creative Brainwaves returns to dlr LexIcon in Dublin for a third series of talks and workshops this October, exploring how our engagement in various creative arts can benefit our brain health.

The sessions include brain health specialists, therapists, people living with and working with those affected by acquired brain injury, and a range of artists, musicians and writers.

This series is curated and facilitated by Mike Hanrahan, Atlantic Fellow for Equity in Brain Health at the Global Brain Health Institute (GBHI), Trinity College Dublin.

Tea and coffee will be provided from 30 minutes prior to each talk.

Amplifying Voices and Memories Through Music and Storytelling in Care Homes Tuesday, October 1 | 11:00am-1:00pm UTC+1

Featuring Gráinne Hope, professional cellist, founder and Artistic Director of Music & Health Ireland, Atlantic Fellow for Equity in Brain Health at GBHI and Chair with the Arts and Health Coordinators Ireland; David Hope, professional musician, songwriter, recording artist, and music and health practitioner; Fiona McAuley, Activity Coordinator, Hollybrook Lodge Residential Care Unit, Dublin; Brian Lawlor, Professor of Old Age Psychiatry and Site Director of the Global Brain Health Institute at Trinity College Dublin.

Dance and Creative Writing for Wellbeing

Featuring Laura Sarah Dowdall, international facilitator on creative health, wellness and inclusion, holistic practitioner and professional dancer; Veronica Casey, poet and short story writer with a combined passion for education and health; Mike Hanrahan, writer, musician and Atlantic Fellow for Equity in Brain Health at GBHI.

Innovative Arts in Acquired Brain Injury

Featuring Alanna O’Connor, speech and language therapist working in CreATe Assistive Technology Service; Liam Lynch, artist and acquired brain injury survivor; Gráinne McGettrick, Director of Policy and Research with Acquired Brain Injury Ireland and Atlantic Fellow for Equity in Brain Health at GBHI; Kathleen Brennan, recently retired from her role at Acquired Brain Injury Ireland, actively supporting families affected by brain injury.
