Opportunity
Experience 2024: An Introduction to Arts, Health and the Older Person is a one-day learning programme for artists and arts practitioners of all disciplines. It takes place on Thursday 5 December at Limerick City Gallery of Art.
Experience 2024 is presented by Age & Opportunity, the national organisation working to enable the best quality of life for us all as we age, and Réalta, the national resource organisation dedicated to developing arts + health in Ireland.
Over the course of the day, Experience 2024 will aim to outline the essential elements involved in working with older people in an arts and health context, and will feature presentations by some of the most experienced and inspiring practitioners working in this specialised field of practice.
The Keynote Speaker is Dr Trudy Meehan, a Chartered Clinical Psychologist and Lecturer in the Centre for Positive Psychology and Health at RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences, Dublin. Trudy’s research explores the value of art in the context of health and the social/political determinants of health.
In a programme which strives to be inspiring and pragmatic, participants will gain an overview of approaches and ways of thinking in this rewarding area of work, practical information and advice for different art forms and disciplines, valuable insight from artists, healthcare professionals and arts + health participants, and opportunities to share ideas and build contacts with their peers.
Places are limited to 20 and cost €30.00 each, including lunch.
The application deadline is Thursday 31 October 2024.
Further details and application information are available from www.realta.ie
