Event
Azure is a free experience at Photo Museum Ireland designed for people living with dementia and their families, friends and carers.
Photo Museum Ireland is the national centre for contemporary photography, based in Temple Bar in Dublin. Free and open for all, exhibitions showcase the best of Irish and international photography.
Azure tours give people living with dementia and those close to them the opportunity to visit museums and galleries together, with tailored experiences facilitated by specially trained staff. Inspired by the ‘Meet me at MoMA’ programme at New York’s Museum of Modern Art, the Azure network was established in 2012 in partnership with The Alzheimer Society of Ireland, Age & Opportunity, the Irish Museum of Modern Art and Butler Gallery. It has expanded to include numerous art venues nationwide.
What to expect on an Azure Tour
During Azure, you will explore artworks from Photo Museum Ireland’s current exhibition with a facilitator who has received Azure training in dementia-inclusive arts programming.
The group session is limited to eight people and two Photo Museum Ireland facilitators. Tea and coffee are served after the tour.
Photo Museum Ireland also offers online Armchair Azure Tours using the Zoom platform.
The next in-person Azure Tour is on Monday 27 January 2025 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Book here.
