How do our voices determine how we live in the world?
Age, gender, accent, health and personal history all combine to create our unique vocal identity. If you have ever felt that your voice has impacted your sense of self or how you are treated by others, Sadhbh O’Sullivan and Sharon Murphy from Embrace Music would love to hear from you.
As part of the initial phase of a new project, Thank You for Hearing Me, they are inviting people based in Kildare and surrounding counties to participate in a series of informal conversations. These chats will explore areas like:
- Our relationship with our voice and how that shapes our relationship with the world
- How our voices change, be it naturally over time or suddenly through a change in health
- Adaptations we make to our voices in order to be accepted
- The importance of being heard, and the impact of not feeling heard.
These conversations will contribute to the development of a multi-disciplinary arts project showcasing the depth and beauty of the human voice.
Thank You For Hearing Me is supported by the Arts Council’s Arts Participation Project Award 2024. During phase two of the project, a handful of participants will be invited to take part in a series of interactive workshops and contribute to the creation of a short film.

About Embrace Music
Founded by musicians Sadhbh O’Sullivan and Sharon Murphy, Embrace Music is a socially-driven entity on a mission to provide far-reaching opportunities for meaningful engagement with the arts. Drawing on a wealth of experience as Arts & Health facilitators across healthcare and community settings, they deliver multidisciplinary workshops that combine singing and music-making with movement, creative writing, conversation and relaxation. They have collaborated with organisations such as the Irish Hospice Foundation and the HSE, and were Artists-in-Residence at The ACRE Project Celbridge in 2023-24.
