All Irish Dance is an award-winning not-for-profit organisation specialising in the delivery of first-of-a-kind evidence-based training empowering people (with or without prior experience) with the knowledge, skills and confidence to lead inclusive adaptive Céilí dance activities for all ages, all levels and all abilities in local communities and care settings. Programmes include:
- Céilí Recall (for older adults)
- Reels on Wheels (for wheelchair users)
- Some Dance to Remember (for people living with dementia and their support networks)
- Y-Céilí (for positive mental health in teens and young adults).
Applications are now open for Dance Leader Level 1 Training, beginning 28 January. Applications will open in February for the spring course, beginning in April.
Who is the training for?
The training is suitable for a diverse range of participants, with or without prior experience of Irish or any other form of dance/movement, who are passionate about inclusion, accessibility and/or community engagement and may include:
- Allied Health Professionals (physiotherapists and occupational, physical, recreational, arts, dance movement therapists)
- Caregivers including Social Care Professionals, Health Care Assistants, Family Carers
- Teachers / Trainee teachers of Irish and other forms of dance/movement
- Community Development Officers/Workers
- Community Programme Facilitators/Co-ordinators
- Community Volunteers (any capacity)
- Fitness and Health & Wellbeing Instructors
- School Teachers/Special Needs Assistants (SNAs)
- Sports Coaches/Leaders/Coordinators (e.g. GAA)
- Youth workers
Training Format
Training is delivered in a hybrid format (online and in person in Limerick) and combines theoretical, practical and experiential learning.
To achieve certification as an All Irish Dance Inclusive Adaptive Céilí Dance Leader, trainees must:
- Attend and engage in all training sessions and workshops
- Organise, deliver and evaluate a short inclusive adaptive céilí activity in their local community or care setting
- Successfully complete Level 1 assessment (short presentation (template provided) and mini theory test).
Trainees are also required to complete guided self-directed learning throughout the course.
