How do artists create and install art in a healthcare setting and have meaningful engagement with patients and staff? Artists Conall Cary and Peter McMorris created six laser-cut and etched brass artworks inspired by the local landscape and contributions from service users and staff for the Waterford Residential Care Centre (WRCC). Commissioned by the HSE and managed by Waterford Healing Arts Trust under the Per Cent for Art Scheme, the artworks were installed in 2020.

In this video we hear from artist Conall Cary; Mary Veale, Director of Nursing at WRCC; Claire Meaney; Director of Waterford Healing Art Trust; and George O’Neill, Project Manager, HSE Estates South East. The video was created for the publicart.ie video series showcasing innovative uses of the Per Cent for Art Scheme in Ireland.
