Arts + Minds and HSE Cork Mental Health Services are pleased to announce The Arts and Mental Health Recovery Seminar, practice, value and potential of the arts within the HSE Cork Mental Health Integrated Service Area. The event will take place from 9.30am – 2pm on Tuesday 8 October 2013 in Crawford Art Gallery, Emmet Place, Cork City.
The seminar will be of interest to mental health service users, arts and health professionals. It will be of particular interest to HSE mental health staff and will include:
- information about arts projects that are taking place in HSE mental health settings in Cork and further afield, including the UK
- a focus on the relevance and value of arts practice to current health policy and recovery orientated mental health care
- an opportunity to listen and contribute to discussion about the role and potential of the arts within the Cork MH ISA
- an opportunity to mark World Mental Health Week, connect with colleagues, exchange and gather new ideas and resources
Speakers will include:
- Sara Burke, health policy analyst, journalist (RTÉ) and researcher (Trinity College Dublin)
- Guest speaker from the UK (tbc)
- Lydia Sapouna, Dept of Applied Social Studies, UCC (event chair)
- HSE Staff, service users and artists from arts and mental health initiatives such as Arts + Minds, The Next Step, CMHS West Cork and others
