To coincide with World Mental Health Day on Monday 10 October members of the South Tipperary Action Network (S.T.A.N.) are organising a Positive Mental Health Festival. The organisers are seeking individuals, groups or organisations to promote and share an event or organise an event during 7 – 15 October 2016. The aim of the festival is to celebrate positive mental health and the amazing achievements of people who have used the mental health services through a broad range of events. It also aims to increase information/awareness around mental health and the organisations/supports in South Tipperary.
A wide range of events took place during last year’s festival. In Clonmel there was an art exhibition in the Narrow Space Gallery, the premier of The Dark Room a play by Chakra Productions, a creative pop-up café Nest Space: Conversations + Art, a Tipperary Community Games Art Competition, yoga hosted by Morton street day centre, a U14 Girls Football Blitz in Clonmel Óg, Pop-up café in Market Place, Coffee Mornings in Place 4 U and Clonmel Community Resource Centre, Storytelling, Mindfulness and Word craft workshops, a Céilí and a Bright Side of the Arches street event to name a few. Events were held in Knockanrawley Resource Centre and Cuan Croi Mental Health Day Centre, Tipperary Town as well as in Nano Nagle Centre, Carrick-on-Suir.
