Slí na Sláinte is a new art in health project by staff affiliated with Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown. The project aims to improve the hospital experience for patients, staff and visitors. A new Hospital Wall Gallery has been established and the inaugural exhibition, Slí na Sláinte (Path of Health), was launched on 15 June 2018, with artwork created and curated by Connolly Collective, an art group attached to the hospital.
The project’s initial aims include the introduction of art displays throughout the hospital corridors in the hope that those patients who are mobile will move through the corridors and enjoy the art, while staff and visitors will find it relaxing and inspiring. Other aspects of the project include creating and supporting community collaborations within the hospital and the wider Fingal area.
The new Hospital Wall Gallery is located on Level 4 outside Elm and Maple wards. The inaugural Slí na Sláinte exhibition by Connolly Collective was made possible by a generous donation from Professor Tom Walsh, Consultant Surgeon, who officiated at the launch. The art work is for sale with 20% of sales donated to the Blanchardstown Hospital Society.
